This is the place where we are have documented the road we have walked in order to adopt our four children from Brazil and the road we are now on as a family. We are keenly aware that adopting is not just a process we've chosen to go through, but part of God's plan for us and for our children. May He be glorified through the process and through our family!

12 November 2009

Today was moving day. The conference at Betania is over and we are now back at the original hotel. The great news is that we're in a room closer to whatever apparatus sends the wireless internet signal and we're SO connected!! That means more pictures for our friends back home to see and more videos too!

We're excellent parents, you know. Our kids watched 4 feature-length films today so that we could get packed up at Rogate and settled back into Betania. They are expert zombies when it comes to watching TV or videos.

Our two eldest had meltdowns today that were pretty taxing at the time, but that ended with smiles and kisses. Lucas' hourlong meltdown ended in this beautiful shared Guarana (Brazil's favorite softdrink) moment. And now everyone is sleeping peacefully and happily.

I too have those days of excellent parenting where there is a really shocking amount of TV watched. Eh, we all make it through, right?

The TV is a fantastic - and free! and always available!- babysitter. Don't let anyone tell you differently. Without it, I wouldn't have showered since 2007.

Well, you can cross TV and sodas off of the 'We'll never...' list. You are real parents!!

Your Mom, Janet, sat for my Janet and Brett! My Janet said, "I'll never say that to my children!" What she said she would never say was..."Because I'm the Mother and I said so!" Hmmm...Dan and I pray for you every day! Grandpa Carl's Mary is my XX sister-in-law!

Beautiful!! Love the pictures and the journal of your initiation into parenting. Keep up the good work! Just a thought...Guarana is a major STIMULANT, as they say in Jersey, "I'm just sayin'..." (might be good for Mamae and Papai though!!)
