This is the place where we are have documented the road we have walked in order to adopt our four children from Brazil and the road we are now on as a family. We are keenly aware that adopting is not just a process we've chosen to go through, but part of God's plan for us and for our children. May He be glorified through the process and through our family!

15 December 2009

Today we took the bondinho (cable car) to the top of Pão de Açúcar, Rio de Janeiro's famous Sugar Loaf Mountain. The views from the top of the city and amazing natural landscape are stunning. On the summit, we could see all the places we'd been already: downtown, Flamingo Park, Copacabana, and even Niteroi across the bay.

We had planned on doing a little swimming at the Praia Vermelha near where the cable car starts its run when we got back down from the mountain, but we found it to be a bit dirty, not to mention the signs that warned us not to swim because of the currents! Instead, we all hopped in Ester's car and headed off to Ipanema, where we spent a couple hours in the afternoon. Pai enjoyed time out in the waves with the older kiddos while the younger kiddos searched in the surf for shells. Overall, it was a nice beach, but I think we all liked Copacabana a bit better so we'll go back there on our Friday beach day!
